IDF increases terror against palestinians still further. Palestinian death toll doubles in relation to last month. On 5/11 UNRWA reports that the IDF has demolished or damaged beyond repair 131 Palestinian homes in Gaza under IDF incursions since 5/1, leaving more than 1,100 Palestinians homeless. In Tel Aviv, more than 120,000 Israelis attend a Peace Now rally calling for a full Israeli pullout from Gaza. During one weeks offensive in the Rafah refugee camp in Gaza starting 5/18 IDF kills 57 palestinians, destroys 167 palestinian homes. The International Red Cross sets up a tent camp in Rafah able to provide emergency housing for Palestinians left homeless by IDF bulldozing and house demolitions.

Responding to Bush’s 4/14 endorsement of Sharon’s plan, the UN General Assembly passes (140-6) a resolution affirming the Palestinians “right to self-determination and sovereignty over their territory.” Israel, the US, 4 Pacific Island nations vote against.
