288 palestinians killed by israeli action this month
51 israelis killed by palestinian action this month
Killing Fields. Sharon finally buries the peace process in the rubbles of the West Bank
March incursions grows into full scale occupation of the West Bank. IDF throws CNN, CBS, NBC, International Red Cross, Palestinian Red Crescent, and Doctors without Borders out of the area, so they wont' document or protest against israeli atrocities. One week into the operation and with more than 150 palestinians allready killed, Bush phones Sharon to say that Israel must begin its withdraw from Palestinian cities "without delay"; reiterates that Arafat has "not earned his trust". EU is silent on the situation. Israel sences no pressure and continues the operation.
All palestinian security structures are destroyed. Buildings, furniture, and computers in all PA offices are removed or destroyed. Arafats closest aides are put on israels "most wanted" list. The resistance against the israeli massacres is strongest in Jenin. On April 9th foreign minister Peres says in an interview with Ha'aretz, that the IDF is committing a massacre in Jenin. Significant parts of the refugee camp is completely destroyed by israeli bulldozers, missiles and artillery. When the norwegian Terje Rod Larsen afterwards visits Jinin he states, that it looks like a battle zone, and that a massacre seems to have taken place. In respose, the israeli authorities expell Larsen declaring him Persona non Grata. Larsen was one of the architects behind the Oslo accord.
The objective of the invasion is not to stop palestinian terror against Israel. During the israeli attrocities, there are nearly daily suicide bomb attacks on settlements and in Israel. The objective of the israeli invasion is to destroy once and for all the PA, and the palestinian hope for an independent state. 288 palestinians and 51 israelis are killed for Sharons dream of no PA and no peace process to come true.
The White House says Bush never expected Israel to halt incursions, withdraw from PA areas in "a mere eight days"; says Bush considers Sharon to be a "man of peace."
