29 palestinians killed by israeli action this month
8 israelis killed by palestinian action this month
IDF attempts to destroy the cease-fire process
The relative low conflict level is abandoned, when an Islamic Jihad suicide bomber kills 5 israelis outside a shopping mall in Natanya. Islamic Jihad says the attack is retaliation for the IDF's 10/24 assassination of 2 of its leaders. In response, israeli defense minister Mofaz states that the IDF had "decided to operate in a much broader, much deeper and more intensive manner against the Islamic Jihad infrastructure" and would make an effort to refrain from drawing Hamas into the fighting. Later in the evening, the Israeli security cabinet authorizes the IDF to "adopt a harsher response" to rocket fire from Gaza. The IDF however does not limit its targetting to Islamic Jihad, but also directs its following assassination campaign against AMB, PRC, Hamas, ARB, PFLP. Apparently in an attempt to bring the cease-fire to its final end. Palestinian factions react by stepping up rocket attacks on Israel. With its offensive, assassinations, and random killings brings this month palestinian death toll to 29. The highest since January.
